I reflected on my leadership, and found that I was trying to influence at all the levels…and often dropping to the bottom HOW each day. To be the leader my boss wants me to be, I see that I need to influence more at the WHY and WHERE level and get my leaders below me to focus more on the WHAT and HOW. This requires me to up my level of focus, and to expand my comfort zone to feel in control even when I am not involved in all the details. If I grow the right people around me, then this is possible to learn to trust my people versus knowing everything.
