I believe I will want to give people the answer when they bring their problems to me. Therefore, I need to think of my role not as a boss, but as a coach…and ask my people more questions to help them find the answers on their own. As I think about it, my questions could be sharing a sort of “thought process” with my people and they might even be able to use a similar thought process on their next problem. I guess my power will come from asking the right questions versus giving the right answers.
